UPTOWN — More temporary street closures are coming to Bryn Mawr avenue and Argyle street starting this weekend as part of the CTA’s Red-Purple Modernization project.

Bryn Mawr Avenue and Argyle Street are the next streets impacted by upcoming construction, CTA told neighbors in a notice.

Starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, Bryn Mawr Avenue will be closed between Broadway and Winthrop Avenue for cars and bicycles. Bryn Mawr will be open to local traffic east and west of the CTA tracks outside of the work zone.

Sidewalk closures will alternate between north and south sides of Bryn Mawr. Crews are expected to wrap up construction by 5 a.m. Monday.

Back-up closure dates are reserved for next weekend from 9 p.m. Sept. 22nd to 5 a.m. Sept. 25th.

Argyle Street closures begin 7 a.m. on Tuesday to remove the “Asia on Argyle” signage and station pagoda. Argyle Street will be closed from Broadway east to the CTA tracks.

Construction is expected to conclude at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Old transit tracks are being demolished and rebuilt as part of the massive modernization project. Temporary stations have been established at Argyle and Bryn Mawr to accommodate continued work.
