OOSTBURG – Owner Jeri Flipse said opening Margo’s, 110 N. Ninth St. in Oostburg, isn’t her story — it’s God’s story.
With a love of decorating and repurposing products, Flipse experienced a aspiration of opening a retail outlet for 10 many years. But she claimed it was hardly ever the correct time, doing the job comprehensive-time and getting young ones in college and athletics.
She reported she initially regarded opening Margo’s in a more compact constructing on Middle Avenue when it became readily available but couldn’t make the commitment.
“I just was far too chicken, and I failed to know how I was going to do (it) with my position and almost everything,” she stated.
Then, a rental house grew to become offered in the strip mall that her father owns. Flipse made a decision to go for it.
With her young children grown, potential staff customers relocating to the place and retiring from prior positions, anything began to fall into place.
“The up coming point I knew, partitions ended up coming down, flooring (have been) likely in,” Flipse claimed.
The original iteration of Margo’s was going to be a country shop with antiques, but Flipse stated she’s not quite artsy and her design and style is a lot more present day.
“This is way far better than what I at any time envisioned,” Flipse mentioned. “It was like the Lord was declaring, ‘Just gradual down.’”
Margo’s is a boutique with a minimal little bit of all the things, like upcycled furnishings, handmade products like aprons and mittens, woodwork, home items, regional authors’ guides and Kup’s Coffee.
Flipse hopes Margo’s will be a local community store — a place for people to stop and speak.
“My head was expressing this minor retail outlet on Middle Avenue. He was indicating, ‘No, this is the place you’re likely to use,'” Flipse reported. “Individuals are going to be capable to arrive on their way to the Pig (Piggly Wiggly) and to Subway and the retail outlet.”
“So, I required just one point. He (God) experienced a a lot far better plan for me,” she ongoing.
With the guidance of loved ones, close friends and shop companions who assisted the retail outlet occur collectively, Flipse feels like it’s everyone’s store, not hers.
“I couldn’t do it with(out) the people who dreamed it with me and the folks who produced it achievable, the individuals who are right here every working day,” she said.
Margo’s is open up 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays as a result of Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
